Step 1 — Allow apps from unknown sources

The Amazon store doesn’t carry most IPTV players, so the Firestick needs permission to install from elsewhere. From the home screen:

• Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options
• Turn on Install Unknown Apps
• Find Downloader in the list and switch it on

Can’t see Developer Options? On newer models it’s hidden. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About, highlight your device name and click it seven times. A message confirms you’re a developer, and the menu appears.

Step 2 — Install the Downloader app

Back on the home screen, open Find → Search and type Downloader. Install the orange app by AFTVnews. It’s free and comes from Amazon’s own store, so nothing unusual happens here.

Open it once and allow the storage permission it asks for.

Step 3 — Enter your Downloader code

In Downloader, stay on the Home tab. Click the URL field, type your numeric code, and press Go.

The download starts automatically and takes a few seconds. If you see “URL not found”, the code was mistyped — clear the field and try again, digit by digit.

Step 4 — Install, then clean up

When the download finishes, select Install and wait. On the confirmation screen choose Done, not Open.

Downloader then offers to Delete the installation file — do it, and confirm Delete again. That file is no longer needed, and Firestick storage fills up faster than people expect. Skipping this is the most common cause of a Firestick slowing down over time.

Step 5 — Sign in

Open IPTV Smarters Pro from your apps list. Accept the terms, then choose Login with Xtream Codes API — not the M3U option, which is harder to type and gives a poorer guide.

• Any name — a label for you, e.g. “Living Room”
• Username — from your welcome message
• Password — from your welcome message
• Server URL — from your welcome message, including http://

Select Add User. The channel list and programme guide take up to a minute to load the first time — that’s normal, and it’s much faster afterwards.

You’re done. Live TV, Movies and Series appear on the main screen.

Why the Firestick Is the Easiest IPTV Device

Of every device people use with our service, the Firestick is the one we recommend most — cheap, portable, and once it’s set up there’s nothing to think about again.

Sideloading isn’t as alarming as it sounds

“Install unknown apps” is a warning that puts people off, but it’s a standard Fire TV feature, not a hack. It means installing something Amazon doesn’t sell — which is why the setting exists. It doesn’t damage the device, doesn’t void your warranty, and doesn’t affect anything else on the stick.

If it makes you more comfortable, switch the setting back off after step 4. The app stays installed and keeps working.

Which model you have barely matters

All Fire TV generations run the same setup. What differs is headroom:

• Fire TV Stick 4K / 4K Max — best choice. Handles 4K comfortably and has enough memory for a large channel list
• Fire TV Cube — fastest of the range, and Ethernet is built in, which removes Wi-Fi from the equation
• Fire TV Stick (HD) — fine for HD. It will attempt 4K but may stutter
• Fire TV Stick Lite — works, but has the least storage. Delete the APK in step 4 and keep other apps trimmed

Wi-Fi is the thing that decides your experience

Nearly every buffering complaint we handle traces back to Wi-Fi rather than the internet plan or our servers. A Firestick two rooms from the router on 2.4GHz will stutter on a gigabit connection, because the bottleneck is the last few metres.

Three fixes in order of effectiveness: use an Ethernet adapter on your main TV (about $15, and it eliminates the problem entirely); connect to the 5GHz band rather than 2.4GHz; and restart the Firestick weekly, since memory fills up and playback degrades gradually in a way that’s easy to misattribute.

Smarters or TiviMate?

Start with IPTV Smarters Pro. It’s free, it’s what this guide covers, and it does everything most people need.

Move to TiviMate if the guide feels sluggish on a large lineup or you want recording. It’s noticeably faster at rendering the EPG, but the useful features need a paid licence. Both accept the same credentials, so trying one costs nothing but the install.

Repeat these five steps on the new device and enter the same credentials. No new subscription, no extra charge.

What matters is your plan’s simultaneous stream limit — two Firesticks can both be set up on a single-device plan, but only one can play at a time. If both get used at once, you want a multi-device plan.
